Habib University is a liberal arts and science institution being established by Habib University Foundation as a world class center of excellence in higher learning. Habib University will start classes in Fall 2013 and will offer undergraduate programs through the School of Science and Engineering and School of Arts, Humanities and Social Science. The University will enroll 200 students in its first year and maintain a student faculty ratio of 12:1. The Provost will be the Chief Academic Officer of the University, and the Deans of the respective schools will report to the Provost.
Habib University will offer undergraduate degrees (it will offer graduate degrees in the future), as well as opportunities for faculty to pursue research, scholarly and artistic activities across the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Engineering. Situated in Karachi, Pakistan, Habib University faculty will have the creative space to partner with local communities, a diverse academic world and leading industrial entrepreneurs to understand and bring change within the country and broaden their own scope of learning. As academic leaders faculty will have the opportunity to build the institution, shape programs, and foster synergies across fields.
Habib University is seeking faculty that has an extensive understanding of the liberal arts model of education and its integration with science and engineering disciplines. We encourage applications that demonstrate strong innovative and entrepreneurial leadership, experience with interdisciplinary programs as well as collaborative, interpersonal, and proven resource development skills.
Habib University has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University and Texas A&M University at Qatar to build this dynamic institution of higher learning in Pakistan.
