Planning for the university is a multifold and complex task of putting together a variety of aspects ranging from academics and research to the detailing of administration and finance in a coherent system of operation. In order to unfold this complex task and develop various aspects of university in harmony with each other, we have developed the planning framework of 7 key areas which covers the entire scope of university planning. These seven areas are closely linked with each other and a proper planning process integrating them will be key to create a quality higher education institute.
Curriculum and Research will form the backbone of the physical, social and intellectual environment of the university. It will undertake an evolving and progressive form with key inputs stemming from our core themes like the Environment, Cognition, Learning Technology and Indigenous Knowledge. Under this area, details of university academic framework, research portfolio, courses and learning resources will be figured out.
This major area of university planning is leading to create a vibrant and conducive environment to learning in the form of appropriate physical infrastructure. Following the basic principles of an environment friendly life and sustainable living, detail planning of this area will cover the master planning of the entire kind and detailed planning and construction of facilitates needed for the phase 1 of the university
Our students are key ingredients, who as individuals and a collective force will help direct and realize our holistic vision, defined through their life at and after the University. Habib University is lauded by its partners to focus on this crucial area in the design stage. Activities undertaken under this area will help us to create appropriate framework for students' needs, deficiency, academic assistance, counseling etc. It would ensure that the intake is in line with university philosophy, academic expectations and demands of intellectual rigor. Details of students' life at the campus in the form of policies, evaluation frameworks and processes, practical exposures, co/extra-curricular activities and facilities will also be the part of this area.
This is a critical and perhaps the most challenging aspect of university planning as the faculty will play the pivotal role in setting the intellectual tone, cultural environment and practical achievements of the University. Planning under this area will lead the Foundation to acquire competent faculty as per the needs of the academic framework designed and the intellectual aspirations set for the university. Under this area, programs for faculty orientation, induction and the development will be also detailed out.
This is the crucial front face of the University. Habib University has opted for a North American style President / Provost governance model. Moreover this area has a diverse and broad scope of coverage entailing aspects such as Human Resource; Quality and Assurance Framework; Finance; IT and MIS; Maintenance and Facility Management; Communication and External Relations; Student Services & Administration. They individually and together will define the underlying operating infrastructure and the day-to-day picture of the University.
Resources are at the center of the university planning and its operations. In order to create a financially sustainable operation, a variety of financial sources need to be tapped into and long term relationships need to be cultivated with them. Under this area a comprehensive framework will be developed and put into operation to raise resources for the university in various forms. The process will also nurture sound relationships with various organizations around the world for the university to build on them further in future.
Properly cultivated partnerships and networks with diverse people and institutions at national and international level will provide immense support to attain the University’s mission and help evolve the academic, professional and social frameworks. Working under their area, H.U.F. will identify and build strong relationships with relevant universities, institutions and people to acquire support for the university establishment phase.
