Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule the project in logical steps. Evaluate construction methods and timelines provided by contractors and determine cost-effectiveness, budget and time required to meet deadlines. Troubleshoot the same to align it with project requirements
- Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction of structures, facilities, and systems
- Review /study in detail and identify discrepancies (if any) in the project drawings, plans, specifications, bill of quantities and other construction documents including civil, structural, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, air-conditioning and other related works.
- Monitor site progress against developed timelines and identify gaps to take necessary measures and make recommendations where extra resources or alternative work processes are required to step up the pace of construction
- Liaise with consultants, sub-consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and other workforce involved in the project.
- Ensure that quality of work performed is in accordance with the standards & specifications and is satisfactory in all respects. Also that it complies with codes/standards & HSQE requirements
- Ensure accurate tracking of quantities of completed work items and agree with the Contractor on the same. Hence, verify contractor’s bills and make recommendations for payment.
- Identify problematic issues and make recommendations that are supported by accepted engineering practices.
- Ensure that changes/modifications in engineering specifications are applied only after proper authorization and diligently record the same in appropriate manner.
- Provide input in the selection and procurement of materials, plant and equipment for smooth operation of site, and requisition supplies and materials where applicable.
- Liaise, when required, with the authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws.
- Regularly liaise with Project Director, clients and their representatives and attend meetings to keep them informed of progress.
- Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site
- Prepare progress and financial reports as required by the management
- Acquire knowledge of project costs and raise alarm in case of deviations from the approved budget
- Perform any other task, which may be assigned from time to time, and is generally within the scope of construction works.
